The PAANY! Water filter bottle was designed and developed by Unimatec Chemicals GmbH in close cooperation with its parent company NOK Corporation Japan. NOK microfiltration technology is based on hollow fiber membranes that convert non-potable water into potable water. The membranes are straw-like and consist of microscopic pores. These are as small as 0.2 microns in diameter. Undrinkable water enters the hollow fiber from the outside, while clean, bacteria-free drinking water passes through the membrane into the center of the hollow fiber. From a technological point of view, NOK water filters show a log 6 reduction. Specifically, > 99.9999% of bacteria and parasites such as Giardia lamblia (beaver fever) and Cryptosporidium parvum, as well as bacteria such as Campylobacter, Escherichia coli (E-Coli), Vibrio cholerae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella and Salmonella are filtered out of the water. All microplastic particles >0.2 microns are retained by NOK's microfiltration membranes.

The 2-stage microfiltration protects against 99.9999% of bacteria (including E.coli, Salmonella), parasites (including Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum), microplastics, chlorine, organic chemicals, dirt and also improves taste. PAANY! has been extensively tested and meets various global standards, such as the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard).
